Lack of updates/”Harold” trailer

May 16, 2009 - Leave a Response

First of all, sorry for the lack of updates the past several months. I’ve had my fair share of personal dilemas, so I haven’t been following the Fredster at all. (can’t even remember the last time I read a Google alert….I have over 800 unread ones in my email…I’ll catch up someday)

Anyways, I thought I’d post about the “Master Harold…and The Boys” trailer being officially online. You can watch it by pasting this link into your browser:

I think Freddie looks pretty good for the most part 🙂

Freddie filming in Cape Town, South Africa

January 30, 2009 - 2 Responses

I’ve found an article that serves as confirmation that Freddie is currently in Cape Town, South Africa shooting Master Harold…and the Boys.

Production is set to wrap on February 14th, which is also, as I’m sure you already know, Freddie’s birthday.

Here you can see a bit of insight on the plot:

An ordinary rainy afternoon in 1950s South Africa turns into a profound, life-changing experience for a young white boy when his world is turned upside down with the announcement of the imminent return from hospital of his crippled, alcoholic father. In the small tea-room/café owned by his family, Hally turns his anger and resentment on Sam, a middle-aged waiter, his role-model and surrogate father and on Willie, a co-worker who’s preoccupied with winning a ballroom dancing championship. In this wrenching look at the effect of peer pressure and prejudice on a loving bond it soon becomes clear that in life, unlike the dance floor, people will forever collide despite their best intentions.

Also, as you may have heard, Astro Boy has struggled with funding a bit with the recession. However, the film is still on, and set for release on October 23, 2009

New Projects?

December 23, 2008 - One Response

According to IMDb and Wikipedia, Freddie has 2 new live-action projects ahead!

Freddie may be playing the role of ‘Andy‘ in A Holiday For Animals. However I can’t find any sources other than Wikipedia claiming this. I can’t find any information on this film.

It’s also rumored that Freddie will be playing the title role, ‘Hally‘ in Master Harold…and the Boys. This project seems more likely to be happening than the other, but Imdb says it’s rumored, and I can’t find any other sources claiming this. However if you want to know about the story, you can read up here.

News on ‘Astro Boy’ Licensing Deals

November 11, 2008 - One Response

Several things about Freddie’s upcoming movie, Astro Boy, have come out lately, including licensing deals details and news about the teaser trailer!

Movie Set staff were lucky enough to get to see the exclusive Astro Boy trailer, though they were asked by Summit Entertainment to not release the trailer just yet. However, there is good news; Movie Set staff DID give a full synopsis on their blog. It’s also strongly believed that the trailer will be attached to the movie Twilight, which is in theaters in the US on November 21st. (December 19th in the UK)

Here is the full synopsis:

Set in the future, Astro Boy is the classic superhero-origin story about a young robot with incredible powers and his adventure-filled journey in search of his identity and destiny.

In Metro City, a gleaming metropolis in the sky, brilliant scientist DR. TENMA (Nicolas Cage) creates ASTRO BOY (Freddie Highmore) to replace the son he lost, programming him with positive human characteristics and values, and extraordinary super powers. Rejected when he cannot meet Dr. Tenma’s expectations, Astro Boy is dealt a cruel double blow — he learns he is a robot, not human.

Carrying within a power source of positive “blue” energy known as The Core, Astro Boy is sought by the troops of militaristic PRESIDENT STONE (Donald Sutherland), who seeks The Core for the Peacekeeper robot, created as a weapon to dominate Earth.

Escaping the military, Astro Boy crashes to the Earth’s surface. Lost, confused and feigning humanity, he joins a gang of child vagabonds, naively seeing a father figure in their leader, HAMEGG (Nathan Lang). To Astro Boy’s horror, Hamegg exposes him as a robot and tries to turn him into a robot-gladiator. In the Battlebot arena, Astro Boy is forced to face droves of robots. Refusing to fight, he instead protects spectators from his dangerous opponents, winning over the crowd.

Alerted by The Core’s power surge, the military captures Astro Boy, who in turn resigns himself to his fate. As Dr. Tenma removes his energy source, Astro Boy forgives him. Realizing his mistake, he lets Astro Boy escape.

Fueled by negative “red” energy, the Peacekeeper is wreaking havoc in Metro City. Astro Boy returns, fighting the Peacekeeper and saving the city from crashing to Earth. In the climactic battle, the strands of the story come together as Astro Boy accepts his mixed human-robot nature and finds his destiny as mankind’s savior.

Freddie is now *confirmed* to be doing ‘A Fox’s Tale’

September 19, 2008 - Leave a Response

For a while now on Freddie’s IMDb page, it’s shown that Freddie was rumored to be doing the film, A Fox’s Tale. Even after the “rumored” was taken off, it was still hard to know what to think, seeing as no other source was claiming Freddie was going to star in the movie. (or that ‘A Fox’s Tale’ was even a movie, period)

Little Jack

But today, made the announcement, saying:

Freddie Highmore, Bill Nighy, Miranda Richardson and Sienna Miller have joined the voice cast of toonpic “A Fox’s Tale.” Hungary’s George Gat helms from a screenplay he co-wrote with Peter Doka.

Highmore voices a fox called Little Jack, who enjoys a blissful life in the forest until his father, voiced by Phil Davis, is captured and forced to work in the circus. Little Jack enlists the help of a young disabled boy and the daughter of the circus owner in his attempt to set his father free.

Freddie scores A* on all 10 GCSE exams!

August 23, 2008 - 2 Responses

We’ve been hearing Freddie talk about his GCSE exams for quite some time now. His results have finally come back, and he’s scored all A*’s on all ten of his exams, which included English language and English literature, maths, Spanish, French, Latin, geography, biology, chemistry and physics. Freddie will now go on to study for his A-Levels, though he is unsure on what subjects he’s taking.

Freddie of course was “thrilled” with the news of the good score.

GCSE = General Certificate of Secondary Education, by the way 🙂
